About

Wander Studios began the way many meaningful projects do—on a road trip, sketched out on a napkin in Mammoth Lakes, California. What started as a simple idea has grown into a community-driven media and storytelling studio rooted in movement, curiosity, and connection.

At its core, Wander Studios exists to tell human stories from the outdoors—stories shaped by terrain, travel, creativity, and the people who choose a life slightly off the beaten path. Through media, events, and community gatherings, we create inclusive, welcoming spaces where people can connect through shared experiences, honest conversation, and time spent outside. Wander is for athletes, creatives, explorers, and small business builders who believe that movement is a language and that community makes everything richer.

Podcast

The Wander Podcast is hosted by Gracie Hinz, a photographer and trail runner focused on storytelling at the intersection of endurance sport, outdoor culture, and creative work. Through in-depth conversations, the podcast explores the personal journeys of athletes, creatives, entrepreneurs, and community builders whose lives are shaped by movement, place, and purpose.

Each episode covers topics including trail running, cycling, skiing, adventure sports, photography, and creative careers, examining how sport and environment influence identity, mindset, and long-term sustainability. The Wander Podcast prioritizes honest storytelling over highlight reels, offering listeners insight into process, progression, and the human experience behind life lived outdoors.

Events

Wanderings is an ongoing initiative by Wander Studios that brings the podcast ethos into the real world. Designed around adventure sports events, Wanderings creates welcoming, low-pressure spaces that help people feel more connected—to the sport, to the event, and to each other.

By partnering directly with races and festivals, Wanderings aims to reduce hesitation around participation and build long-term community within endurance and outdoor sports. Whether it’s a group run or ride, a post-race hangout, a panel conversation, or a casual meetup, Wanderings is about making events feel more human, more accessible, and more fun—so people want to come back year after year.

Visual Media

Wander Studios is also a creative studio and publishing platform, producing visual and editorial work rooted in authenticity and place. From photography and video to graphic design, print projects, and longform storytelling, our media focuses on the people behind the performances and the environments that shape them.

We believe good storytelling favors intention over noise. Our work captures moments that feel real—quiet mornings, muddy shoes, shared laughter, hard efforts, and the community that forms around them. Whether it’s event coverage, athlete profiles, branded storytelling, or independent editorial projects, Wander Studios creates media that reflects the depth, nuance, and joy of life lived in motion.

  • Founder, Host, and Community Builder

Gracie is the force behind Wander Women’s Collective. With a background in integrative wellness and a life shaped by movement, travel, and trail miles, Gracie started Wander as a way to celebrate living adventurous, unconventional lives.

She’s a long-distance trail runner, podcast host, and field scientist who’s just as comfortable leading a group run as she is editing audio in the back of her van. Whether she’s interviewing an athlete, organizing a race-weekend meetup, or dreaming up the next big project, Gracie brings warmth, curiosity, and a deep commitment to creating spaces where women feel seen, supported, and inspired to keep going.

  • Creative Director

Sophia is the creative mind behind many of Wander’s visuals — a designer who brings warmth, curiosity, and intention to everything she creates. Originally from just outside Seattle, she draws inspiration from moody landscapes, lush greens, and rainy mountain backdrops. Now based in San Diego, her work has expanded to reflect coastal colors, local flora, and the everyday beauty of cafés, beach walks, and neighborhood light.

As a graphic design student, Sophia is always exploring new styles and mediums, using design as a way to capture the small moments that make life meaningful — whether that’s a trail run, a post-ride PB&J, or a quiet morning in the sun. Her approach is rooted in a belief that joy lives in the details, and her work brings that ethos into every project she touches.

  • Head of Brand

Ellie shapes the look, feel, and voice of Wander Women’s Collective — blending design, strategy, and storytelling to bring ideas to life. A Northern California native, she draws inspiration from the coast, the colors found in nature, and the small, unexpected moments that spark curiosity. Her work spans brands, publications, and digital spaces, always seeking ideas that delight, surprise, and bring people joy.

Forever a connoisseur of pastries, lover of skiing, mountain biking, tennis, and climbing, a reader, an artist, and an obsessor over music, Ellie brings the same curiosity and playfulness to life as she does to every project she touches, whether she’s exploring the outdoors, experimenting with a new creative idea, or chasing the next adventure.
